いまや本の世界は「大日本印刷＝丸善」陣営と、「凸版＝紀伊國屋」陣営という二大勢力にくっきりと色分けされつつある。どちらの陣営にも、出版社はいまのところ深く関与していないが、ここに二大取次や大手広告代理店など、これまでの寡占体制のもとで利益を享受してきたプレイヤーが参与してくると、なんだかイヤな陣取りゲームが始まる気がする。

いまのところは、図書館、書店、印刷会社という、本の基本的なインフラ部分での動きでしかないが、これら一連の動きが意味するのは、紙の本（雑誌、新聞ふくめ）による出版・印刷・広告・流通は、将来性のあるビジネスとして、完全に見放されたということなのかもしれない。
